The Reconstruction (2005)
Daughter

Do you remember back in ’85?
Man, that was a good year
It was the time of my life

Like the episode in the garden
Mud up to your knees
Screaming “Daddy!!! Help Me!!! Please!!!”

Yeah, that’s my daughter.

I cannot believe you would pack up and leave with someone you just met
How could you forget I dedicated my life to raising you right?
I don’t know how to mend what’s been broken

Do you remember back in the wintertime?
You stuck your tongue to the post
You better believe it froze

You begged your brother to get some help
He forgot and did something for himself
Hours later I got home and saw you out there, alone.

I cannot believe you would pack up and leave with someone you just met
How could you forget I dedicated my life to raising you right?
I don’t know how to mend what’s been broken

You fell in love then you walked out of my life in and instant
You just don’t understand how all of the picture perfect moments that define us have all turned to black.
