I'll be performing at Fogo Tapas Bar & Lounge in Oakville on Tuesday, February 23rd 2010. I'll be performing 2 songs as part of their open mic night. Doors at 8pm. It's $5 and 19+.
20 SONG / 4 CD PROJECT UPDATE
I randomely got sick for about a week so I had to put the demo recording on hold. Everything is now back on track. Last night I started recording the demo for a brand new song called "Tucker". It's about a sad story I read in the newspaper a few weeks ago. I've got some before and after videos for you to watch. The first video is of me playing it live for the first time on January 29th. I had no lyrics but I wanted to see if the melody was any good. Because there were no lyrics and no song title, the crowd decided to give it a title. They decided on "More Cowbell". Haha. The second video is of Mike Appleton and I practicing the song on February 11th after I had finished writing the lyrics. It's kind of cool to see the difference over a 2 week period. I've been asked to submit a song for the soundtrack to the movie "Day Four". To be considered, I had to take pictures from the movie and make a video using my music. You can watch my submission at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=djgFXHf4dbI. Out of the 12 artists that have submitted songs, the video with the most views has under 250 in 2 weeks. I just uploaded my video last night and I already have over 160 views! Within 2 days we'll be the #1 video!
Rob Lanni from Coalition (one of the biggest management firms in Canada) just came in and did a guest lecture at my school. He manages Our Lady Peace, Finger Eleven, Simple Plan, Justin Nozuka etc...I had met him in the summer when Live 88.5 hosted some workshops for the bands that participated in the Big Money Shot competition. I talked to him for a bit one and one and got his personal contact info. Again, I can't stress enough how important networking is in the music industry!
VALENTINE'S DAY

Joel plays for Prime Minister
He was asked to perform at Prime Minister Stephen Harper's Daughter's private birthday party 2 years in a row. After the performance Mr. Harper told him that he really enjoyed the show and thought it was extremely entertaining.
